Stay clear of this place! Decided to get away for a weekend deer hunt/ quail hunt combo. The only positive thing I can say about the experience was the kid that guided us on the quail hunt was great. We shot some quail and enjoyed watching the dogs and talking with our guide. Other than that, nothing positive I could say about Piney Creek. The owner Allen is cheap and dishonest. When booking, Allen mentioned multiple times that this was an "all inclusive" hunt. My wife and I could relax and they would take care of everything. He promised breakfast and a southern style meal for dinner provided by his "black woman" Well, upon arrival at the lodge, his "black woman" answered the door and would not let us in with our bags. When Allen arrived, he told us which room we were to be in and said that our evening deer hunting guide would be there at 3:30 to take us to our stand. I was disappointed that it was 2:30 and we had to wait patiently for over an hour for our guide because his pit bull had got loose and it took him a while to catch him. I was even more disappointed when the place we were taken to was literally 100 yards from the lodge. It was a junky enclosed trailer across the street looking down a 50 yard shooting lane and a corn feeder. In the trailer, beer cans and little kids toys were left by the last family that was dropped off there. It was a total joke. We had to listen to someone run a chainsaw 75 yards from us and about 20 dogs bark in a kennel at the lodge. I had never been so annoyed while deer hunting in my life. To make up for it, Allen told us where the nearest town was we could find something to eat. When I asked about the promised meal he said his woman needed the night off. He offered to grill us some steaks and I accepted his offer but he shortly took the offer back and recommended again we get something to eat in town. We ate in town and got back to lodge just as Allen was leaving with another hunter staying at lodge. They were going to town to eat Mexican but apparently didn't want the company of me and my wife. I had asked Allen if we could get a little earlier start to our morning hunt and he said that would be fine. He later called and offered us a free morning deer hunt since we were unsuccessful that evening and I reluctantly agreed. Allen had promised biscuits for breakfast but the guide sure didn't bring us anything so I guess he meant for us to drive 20 min to town and get it ourselves. Luckily we brought some snacks for breakfast! The morning hunting spot wasn't much better than the evening before. A camo blind on a road bed with a trail of peanuts for 50 yards in any direction. We started quail hunting at 9 am and never saw Allen again. After we left and got headed back home, Allen called and asked if we enjoyed our trip. I didn't bring up how he had promised an all inclusive trip and did not offer us any food other than a candy dish in the lodge. I didn't even mention the ridiculous locations we were put in to deer hunt. However, he must have sensed some dissatisfaction because he made me an offer to come back and hunt for free anytime for a weekend. I appreciated the offer and a few weeks later I sent him a text asking if we could come down for that deer hunt. He replied immediately saying yes for the coming weekend but that there hadn't been many deer seen lately. I told him it was fine, I wanted my daughter to get to hunt in a new different place and didn't care if we got a deer or not. He then texted back and said he wanted to check the deer sign and to get with him that night. I replied to him that evening but surprisingly he didn't reply. I followed up the next day and again, no reply. The next night I texted again.... you guessed right, no reply again. So I now have to tell my daughter than no we wont be going to Piney Creek to hunt deer this weekend. I'll end with this, I don't ever post reviews of businesses. I am about the easiest person in the world to please. I don't like being lied to or ripped off and that is exactly what Allen at Piney Creek did.
I've known Allen and his staff for 30 years.i ve never known of any client who said that he didn't go out of his way to make their experience at piney creek a great one.
Outstanding hunting experience. Plenty of birds, guide was excellent, and the accommodations good. I highly recommend Piney Creek Plantation.
